Comics: My pull list

I have been reading a lot of comics in 2014 and I thought it might be fun to take a look at my current pull list. I read comics though Comixology and though the Marvel Unlimited app. I do mostly read Marvel comics but some image and DC ones sneaks in as well.

Meathouse Man

MHM_coverTitle: Meathouse Man
Author: George R.R. Martin Raya Golden
Art: Raya Golden
Genre: Comic, dystopia

I read this as part of my Hugo Award reading, it was part of the Hugo voting package. I do not think I would have ever picked it up otherwise. Gritty dystopian fiction, not my cup of tea.

I will say up front, I did not like it – at all! I really tried to give it a chance, but it creeped me out – and not in a good way.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol. 2

JUL110605_2Title: Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol. 2
Author: Brian Michael Bendis
Cover: Kaare Andrews
Art: Sara Pichelli
Series: Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol. 2

I will start by saying that I read all of the series (28 issues) in two days. That should give you some idea of how I felt about this series. To me it was unputdownable! I just had to keep reading.

Not that this review will talk about things that has happened in the Ultimate Marvel universe a few years back. It will not spoil the story of this comic however.

Comics, lots and lots of comics

I am still reading lots and lot of comics. I am still struggling with finding out how best to track what I read. Goodreads don’t seem to be the answer, it skews my reading stats – and lets face it – reading a comic – not the same as reading a long novel. But anyway, I thought you might want to know what I am reading and what I can recommend for you. I will just mention the new series I have gotten into… just assume I am still reading the ones I mentioned in the last Comics, lots and lots of comics post if I liked them.

Comics, lots and lots of comics

I have been ill with the flu a lot this month to my great annoyance and adding stress to my work. While I have been ill and recovering I have not really been able to read much regular fiction. I simply have not had the energy which is why I am now going on week two of reading the same novel. However comics have been the perfect fit for my bored but low energy mind. I have not just read a comic or two but a whole host of them! I thought it would be fun to list them all. Some of them I probably don’t have a lot more to say on than FUN. Ok enough babbling lets see some comics.

One word review: Fantastic!

Ok lets write a bit more than one word shall we… I woke up at 4 this morning and couldn’t sleep more, so instead of turning and tossing I went on to Comixology and picked up one of the comics on my wish list: Ms. Marvel #1 and seriously I am soo glad that I did. I loved Captain Marvel, but Ms. Marvel blew me away!  I had vaguely heard that Marvel was doing a muslim-American female superhero months ago and forgotten all about it. So when I opened the issue I was surprised and delighted.
