Opera Vita Aeterna

opera_256Title: Opera Vita Aeterna
Author: Vox Day
Genre: Fantasy

This is part of my Hugo award reading. It was nominated as a part of the best Novelette category. This is the part of my 100 Short Stories in 2014 challenge.

This is a fantasy story set in a world with elves, goblins and humans. However the religion seems to be catholicism, or as close to it as you can get without naming it. This is important because the story is very much about religion. It takes place in a monastery where an elf spend many years.

The Elephant in the Room

The elephant in the roomTitle: The Elephant in the Room
Author: Paul Cornell
Genre: Urban fantasy

This is the part of my 100 Short Stories in 2014 challenge.

This story is part of George R. R. Martin’s Wild Cards multi-author shared-world universe , which I have never encountered before, but which I now want to read more off. I tried to read London Falling  by Paul Cornell last year without luck – to my annoyance it didn’t catch me. I say to my annoyance because I really like Paul Cornell on SF Squeecast and I want to like the writing of the internet people I follow. So I am very happy that I really like The Elephant in the Room.

I read this as part of my reading challenge: 25 short stories in 25 days.

I have been listening to this over the last few hours and I have decided that this will be my story for the 28th because it is too good, not to give a separate post and I did finish it after midnight so I guess that is fair. That of course means that I will have to read a novel today, or at least not include any new stories I read in the challenge.

I read this as part of my reading challenge: 25 short stories in 25 days.

Today I listed to a story instead of reading one. I started reading one, but fell asleep – not the stories fault I was just tired. So I decided to listen to the next story in Metatropolis since I wanted to hear McGuire’s story anyway. That also eat my Seanan McGuire story for this challenge. Which is probably not a bad thing either.
