Kale salad with pomegranate

Last night I made lamb culotte with baked root vegetables (I can not recommend baked turnip) and this kale salad. The rest of the meal wasn’t very historical inspired but the salad was based of one I found in one of my books about medieval cooking. I thought I would share it with you because it turned out to be pretty yummy.

Kale & Orange salad

I had brought some kale today while out shopping because I am in kind of a medieval mindset right now. When I came home and looked at what else I was planing for dinner (barley frumentry and a steak), the traditional dish of “grønlangkål” didn’t really make sense. I decided to just google kale and see what came up. Luckly aarstiderne.com had a good recipe for a salad of kale, so I went with that. This is my version of that salad. It tasted great with the beef steak by the way.

Pizza Dough

After trying a stack of different doughs for pizza I have settled on using one that I got from one of my friend. The edges crisp up, the bottom of the pizza is crispy rather than doughy and it taste good – and bonus the topping does not drop though the pizza! Now that is good pizza dough.

Mom’s goulash

I adore Hungarian goulash it is just so good! This is my mom’s recipe, so it is by no means authentic. This is the perfect winter food.

Serve it with crème fraîche and flute. I think beer works really well with this.

This also works really well for larping events over made over a campfire. We have had it a number of times for workshops – perfect after a long cold day working outside. Keep Reading

Shaked chaos potatoes

This is one of my brother-in-law’s recipes and it is yummy. It is somewhere between a potato mash and boiled potato with herbs. It is perfect for the days where you still want to enjoy the amazing summer potato but have had them boiled all week and want something else.
