Valor’s Choice (+ book 2 & 3)

Valor's ChoiceTitle: Valor’s Choice
Author: Tanya Huff
Series: Confederation book 1-3
Genre: Science fiction, space opera, military science fiction

Opening sentence:

A writer and philosopher of the late twentieth century once said, “Space is big”.

You might have noticed by now that I like Tanya Huff’s work quite a bit. This year I have been going back and read some of her older work. One of the titles that kept popping up was the Confederation series – since I like space opera and I like military science fiction with a female lead I picked up the first book. Two weeks later I found myself starting the fourth book before I thought: “Ok enough of this already. I need to read other stuff this year” and then I did not really read anything else…

Thrilling November Reads

Most of the books I read this month are later books in ongoing series where I have reviewed earlier books. I can’t seem to find the head space to sit down and properly review them. So I thought I would do a quick run down of the books and if I am lucky it makes me want to write the proper reviews. I read seven books this month so that might also be part of it. Looking at the books now I can see that there is a theme though most of these books. Five of them are spy thrillers of some kind or another.

Blood Price

317121Title: Blood Price
Author: Tanya Huff
Series: Vicki Nelson, book 1
Genre: Urban fantasy

After reading clean sweep I was really in the mood to read some more good urban fantasy – yes that happens quite a lot for me. Not something I do very often. The first book was great so I was happy to reread it and the second one lived up the potential of the first one so I am very happy about that.

I just read The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff and am in the process of reading the second book. I greatly enjoy her style and her take on fays. When I saw that she had just published a short story collection with just fay stories I thought, hey that is made for me. And I think the name is kinda clever so bonus points for that.
